Safe Dates
Safe Dates is a ten-session dating abuse prevention program that is offered to middle school students. This program aims to raise students’ awareness of what constitutes healthy and abusive dating relationships, raise students’ awareness of dating abuse, change adolescent norms about dating violence, and equip students with the skills and resources to help themselves or friends in abusive dating relationships. It focuses on teaching positive skills for healthy dating relationships, including positive communication, anger management, and conflict resolution. Counseling support is provided for children and families.
UPDATE: The program has been so successful that we have added an after school support group with a focus on academic achievement. We have built the curriculum around the ”7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.” To volunteer as a tutor or a mentor for girls 11- 14, please call the Rise office at 609 443-4464. The program takes place once a week, at the Melvin H. Kreps Middle School, from 3-4pm.
Summer H.E.L.P. (Hightstown-East Windsor Learning Partners) Enrichment Program
In partnership with East Windsor Regional School District, and in collaboration with Jewish Family & Children’s Services and Better Beginnings Child Development Center, we host Summer H.E.L.P., a six-week summer day camp program for local children from kindergarten through sixth grade. This program is designed to provide quality summer childcare for local families while providing a fun and educational experience. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale in order to be affordable to all families.
TRIO Collaboration
Partially funded by United Way of Greater Mercer County, this collaboration builds on the success of Summer H.E.L.P. to meet the needs of families with children who need access to early intervention and screening. This network also provides working parents with children enrolled at Better Beginnings Child Development Center with year-round, uninterrupted child care.
