Volunteering at Rise is a great way to make friends, get involved and help others. Our growing network of dedicated volunteers contributes more than 5000 hours of service a year. Your time and energy can make a real difference in our community!
There are many ways you can contribute your time:
Safe Dates / 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens - Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays from 3-4pm to tutor/mentor a girl ages 11-14 years old. Some ways you help:
- Share your hobby and your talent with the group
- Bring in pictures from your vacation and share your experience
- Tell us about your country and share your culture with us
- Organize a tour of your work facility to expose the girls to career options
- Provide opportunities for our girls to shadow staff at your business for the day.
Safe Dates is a ten-session dating abuse prevention program that is offered to middle school students. This program aims to raise students’ awareness of what constitutes healthy and abusive dating relationships, raise students’ awareness of dating abuse, change adolescent norms about dating violence, and equip students with the skills and resources to help themselves or friends in abusive dating relationships. It focuses on teaching positive skills for healthy dating relationships, including positive communication, anger management, and conflict resolution. Counseling support is provided for children and families.
Greater Goods Thrift Store – sorting/tagging, display design, advertising & publicity, furniture pickup/delivery, eBay sales, and more
Food pantry – organize food donation drives; help with pickup/delivery or distribution of food
Special events & seasonal programs – holiday food & gift drive, holiday party, 5k race, Health & Wellness Fair, summer enrichment program, income tax return assistance
General assistance – office and clerical work, grant writing support, and more
